Memoirs

Starting in the mid-1990s Angela wrote a series of memoirs: personal stories about her life from early childhood until her mid-30s. Two memoirs describe her recollections of her parents Martin Bobowsky and Nettie Kondratiuk. The rest chronicle memorable experiences from her years as a child, teenager and young woman.

The early memoirs, up to and including Star Photo Studio, are about growing up in North End Winnipeg in the 1920s and 1930s. Chicago, Kirkland Lake, and Escapades in Niagara Falls recount Angela’s experiences as she travelled to find work during the Great Depression. She eventually settled in Toronto where she found steady employment in photo studios, and where she met and married Doug Harrison. These events are the subject of her later memoirs. Our addendum Cast of Characters is a who’s who of family members mentioned in the memoirs.
